Shawarma Guys

A firm favorite on the food truck scene, Shawarma Guys specializes in Mediterranean and Middle Eastern grub.

Found in South Park, Shawarma Guys has been crowned San Diego’s best-loved food truck.

It’s home to some of the city’s finest veggie and meat-filled offerings. You’ll find everything from crispy falafel and creamy hummus to wagyu shawarma plates and Greek wraps.

You can see what the fuss is all about from 11 am – 8 pm, Monday – Saturday.

Taco Time Food Truck

It’ll come as a surprise to absolutely no one that one of the top food trucks in San Diego is a taco stand.

Taco Time has set up shop in Linda Vista, dishing out some of the cheapest tacos you’ll find in the city. With $2 birria tacos and $10 burritos, their prices rival any happy hour.

Try the best of what Taco Time has to offer between 6 am and 12 am.

The San Diego Taco Truck

This is San Diego, after all, so you can expect quite a few Mexican food trucks to make their way onto this list.

The San Diego Taco Truck is not far from Taco Time and is where you’ll find cheesy mulitas alongside their signature tacos.

Chorizo, asada, and pastor are just some of the fillings to choose from, and select tacos start from around $2.

Make your visit to the San Diego Taco Truck any day except Monday from 5 pm until 11:30 pm.

Chef Budda Blasian Soul Food

With a permanent home in the North Park area, plus a revolving selection of pop-up locations, you won’t have to venture far for your next visit to Chef Budda.

Their combo boxes are on the higher end of the price scale at $20.

However, you’re guaranteed to be full to the brim after munching on a mix of chicken, shrimp, or fish. Plus sides like mac and cheese or rice and gravy.

They open from Tuesday to Friday between 4 – 9 pm and 12 – 7 pm on Saturdays.

Kiko’s Place Seafood

Located in Mission Valley, Kiko’s Place is regularly listed among the best food trucks in San Diego, and rightfully so.

They serve up Mexican food, seafood style.

Look forward to a menu full of shrimp ceviche and crispy fish tacos, as well as meat options if you’re not in the mood for fish. Anyone visiting in a pair or group has to sample their huge Krazy Ceviche.

Kiko’s Place Seafood is open daily between 9 am and 7 pm.

Dang Brother Pizza

A mobile food truck that bounces between public events and private gatherings, the guys at Dang Brother Pizza craft some sensational pizzas from the inside of a former fire engine.

Their incredible fire engine turned food truck is something you have to see to believe.

Of course their food is the main draw though. These mouthwatering wood-fired pizzas come in all the classic flavors, like pepperoni and Neapolitan, plus they offer gluten-free bases, too.

Underdog Food Truck

Underdog in University Heights has mastered the art of taking typically meat-heavy dishes and making them 100% vegan.

Burgers, hot dogs, loaded fries, you name it, they’ve created it. All while keeping their food meat-free.

As delicious as each is, the corn dogs have stolen the spotlight. The spicy jalapeno popper edition comes in at $7.50.

Underdog Food Truck is open every Tuesday and Thursday between 12 and 8 pm.

Mariscos El Prieto

The neighborhood of El Cerrito plays host to Mariscos, a beloved Mexican food truck.

This food truck has cemented itself as one of the best places around for quick and flavorful eats. 

Try their famous chicken or beef shawarmas any day except Tuesday from 5 – 11 pm or between 3 and 11 pm at weekends.

Sushi Uno

North Park’s top spot for grab-and-go Japanese bites, Sushi Uno has a wide selection of super fresh rolls and small plates.

Sushi Uno operates from Thorn Street Brewery on Wednesdays and Fridays between 5 and 8 pm and from Fall Brewing Company on Thursday evenings.

This food truck jumps between locations in Chula Vista, El Cajon, Pacific Beach, La Mesa, and more spots around San Diego.

Perfectly crunchy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside, the churros here are absolutely drool-worthy. Each comes with your choice of amazing sauces like Nutella, chocolate, and peanut butter.

A taco joint that always delivers, Chula Tacos is one of the best places in Chula Visa to get high-quality Mexican food.

Made fresh every day, their tacos, quesadillas, and mulitas are a feast for the senses, as is their gorgeous guacamole. Expect to pay between $2.50 and $3.50 per taco, depending on your filling.

We’re staying in Chula Vista a little longer and heading to The Groovy Greek.

This might just be one of the healthiest food trucks around!

The Groovy Greek serves up delicious food every day of the week from 10 am until 8 pm.

Zs Buddies Sushi

San Diego continues to deliver mouthwatering food truck fare, and this time, it’s Zs Buddies Sushi.

Sushi rolls, tempura shrimp, and poke bowls are just some options, but you have to try the sushi burritos and the chicken katsu bowl. For a big feed, try their massive $21 signature burrito.

Although based in South Park, Zs regularly moves around and sets up shop in different parts of the city and at various times. Their website, Zs Buddies Sushi, will keep you up to speed with their upcoming locations.

Right by the waterfront in downtown San Diego is Lane Field Park, which transforms into a marketplace for street food and local crafts every Saturday and Sunday between 10 am and 4 pm.

Live music kicks off around 12:30 pm.

This is the perfect place to go if you’re dining in a group and can’t agree on somewhere. Here you’ll have a choice between boa buns, kebabs, loaded fries, and so much more.

Curbside Bites

Unlike the Lane Field Park Market, Curbside Bites has a different location every day, with trucks popping up in spots like La Jolla, Mission Valley, and Hillcrest, amongst others.

Different food is available in different areas, meaning Rancho Bernardo might get sushi and burgers one day, while downtown gets Belgian waffles and burritos the next.

Below are a couple to look out for:
